Full production will start only after all workers sign the 'good conduct bond': Maruti
Struggling with the worker’s strike one after another at its Manesar based car manufacturing plant, the Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has now come-up with a new 'good conduct bond' to sign with workers. The company has said that it will not resume the production at its full scale till all workers sign the bond. The 'good conduct bond' has been roped in after quality related issues surfaced at the plant. As per the company, the bond will ensure no repetition of these kinds of issues.
While further clearing the company’s stand on the issue, MSI Chairman RC Bhargava said that the company can’t start full production till the workers are ready and they have to sign this bond. According to him, the outside elements are continuously influencing the worker, affecting the talks between management and workers.
It is to be mentioned here that Maruti Suzuki has stopped receiving bookings for its recently launched popular premium hatchback Swift due to halted production at its Manesar plant. It has been just two weeks to the launch of the Swift model and booking figures have already crossed the 80,000 units mark. If the labor issue remains continue for a few more days, the waiting period for the Swift model can reach up to 6 to 7 months.
According to the company, so far 63 workers of the troubled Manesar plant have signed the 'good conduct bond' out of a strong workforce of 950 permanent workers.
