Generation Next Maruti Suzuki WagonR Launched In India
Finally the country’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India has launched the highly awaited refreshed version of its one time best selling hatchback WagonR in the Indian car market with the starting price of Rs. 4.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In its new avatar, the Wagon R not only receives the aesthetic updates but also mechanical updates in form of 1.2 litre petrol engine, along with the existing 1.0 litre petrol engine. It is offered in three trims namely LXi, VXi and ZXi. Apart from this the transmission system also includes the option of Auto Gear Shift (AGS) followed by the manual gear transmission system. The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is going to compete against recently launched Hyundai Santro and the Tata Tiago.

Engine Details: Continuing the existing 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder K10B engine, the new Wagon R is also empowered with 1.2 litre 4 cylinder, K12B engine. The newly introduced engine configuration has been outsourced from the Ignis hatchback, it generates the power of 82 bhp and the torque of 113 Nm. The transmission duties are performed with five-speed manual and give speed AGS gearbox system. The variants empowered with the new engine configuration are reported to deliver an average of 21.50 kmpl. The existing 1.0 litre engine generates the power of 67 bhp and the torque of 90Nm. The transmission duties are performed with similar transmission systems as offered in the 1.2 litre engine variants. The 1.0 litre engine offers the fuel efficiency of 22.50 kmpl, which is almost 10% higher than the phased out version.
Exterior Front: On the exterior front it receives the completely new grille with new shaped headlamps. The trapezoidal bumper has sufficient space for fog lamps. On the rear front also it receives a completely new look comprising of new tailgate with new tail lamps that look compatible to the gate. Developed on the new Heartect platform, the new Wagon R has the length of 3,655 mm, width of 1,620mm and the breadth 1,675 mm. With the wheelbase of 2,435 the hatchback offers extra space inside the cabin.

Interior Front: Inside the cabin also it receives a new look including the newly developed dashboard and touchscreen infotainment system. The SmartPlay Studio from the Maruti is developed to offer connectivity with cloud-based services including Apply CarPlay and Android Auto. The new dual tone brown and beige color combination upholstery further enhances the aestheticism of the interiors.
Safety Features: It would be interesting to know that along with the integration of contemporary features, the Indo-Japanese car makers have paid proper attention towards the integration of safety features like driver side airbag, ABS+EBD, speed alert system, front seat belts reminder and rear parking sensors as standard features across all the trims.
