Honda CRV recalled due to possible fire threat
The Japanese auto giant Honda Motors, which has been known for their genuine quality and safety of products, has recalled around 4, 89,000 units of popular luxury sports utility vehicle ‘Honda CRV’ from the global market. The company released a statement in this regard on Saturday mentioning that all vehicles recalled were manufactured between 2002 and 2006.
The decision was taken following the detection of the possible threat of fire to driver side door of the vehicle. It was found that the master power switch can overheat, melt and catch fire from the rain water, which could enter the driver side window. According to company, the exposure to water can cause overheat in the switch following an electrical resistance, which could ultimately convert in fire.

Though no injuries or crash has been reported so far due to this fault, but there have been reports of four switch fires by the CR-V owners. The CR-V owners have been requested by the company to bring their vehicles to the nearest Honda service center for the inspection and subsequent repair of the switch problem. Also, it there will be a need to replace the master switch, it will be performed free of cost altogether.

The United States and Europe are the most Affected regions due to this recall, from where the company has called back 268,000 units and 220,000 units respectively. Moreover, around 100 vehicles have been recalled from African market. However, the company is yet to reveal weather CR-V sold in India during year 2002 to 2006 have been included in this recall or not. In India, Honda CRV is competing with the likes of Ford Endeavour, Renault Koleos, Chevrolet Captiva, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Outlander etc.
