Honda launches new 1.6 Liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine for Civic sedan
Taking a shift from its petrol only policy, the Japanese auto giant Honda has developed an all new diesel engine that is expected to be used for rolling-out diesel version of popular premium sedan Honda Civic. The newly developed 1.6 Liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show, where a large number of car enthusiast were present.
The new 1.6 Liter i-DTEC turbo diesel Honda engine is capable of delivering a peak power of 120 Bhp of 4,000 rpm, along with a peak torque of 300 Nm at 2,000 rpm. Initially, the engine will be loaded in the heart of Honda Civic model, which is one of the most appreciated Honda cars in the global market.

In India, if Honda Civic launched in a diesel version, it will make the competition in the range of Rs 10 to 15 lakh to even more intense. The new Honda Civic diesel will be competing with the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Chevrolet Cruze and Skoda Laura.
The current portfolio models of the company in the in the Indian market include compact small car Honda Brio, mid size sedan Honda City, Premium sedan Honda Civic, luxury sedan Honda Accord and luxury sports utility vehicle Honda CR-V.
