List of cars with most toxic chemicals, 2012 Honda Civic best choice

The Ecology Centre has issued the fourth consumer guide having a list of cars with most toxic chemical effects at the HealthyStuff, Honda Civic sedan is rated the cleanest and Mitsubishi Outlander as the worst choice. Most of the consumers are unaware of the hazardous effects of the vehicle’s interior that eliminate toxic gases and other potential carcinogenic elements.

Within the compact and comfy car’s cabin body comes in contact with these toxic chemicals and radiations causing cancer and deformities in the offspring. This research was conducted more than 200 popular car models of 2011 & 2012 that have been went through the chemical testing. The various interior components were tested for the chemical off-gas including the armrests, steering wheel, dashboard and seats.

These all components are responsible for the specific ‘new car smell’ that has adverse effect on health. According to the Ecology Centre report, the overall new vehicles ratings are improved with 17 percent and 60 percent having PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) and BFR (Brominates Flame Retardant) free interior respectively.

The entire interior of the next generation Honda Civic has PVC free fabrics & trim and integration of bromine flame retardant free components along with minimum amount of heavy metals and other metal allergens.

On the other side, the worst rated Mitsubishi Outlander has been found with higher levels of bromine & antimony based flame retardants and lead in centre console & seats with chromium treated leather on several components. The 2012 Honda Civic, Toyota Prius and Honda CR-V are among the top ranking cars and the Mitsubishi Outlander, Chrysler 200 SC and Kia Soul are the worst ranking models, according to the issued list.
