Hyundai Elantra launch on August 13

Various reports suggest a shift in demand from small cars to sedans in India. This has been attributed to the increase in the number of attractive sedan offerings in place and more to come. The latest addition to the fleet of sedans in India will be the Hyundai Elantra that is hoped to be priced around Rs 12 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. The Elantra launch in India will be on August 13, Monday and Hyundai has slated a fantastic launch for this car that is reentering the country after a long time. The Elantra will target the sedan segment and will have Toyota Corolla Altis, Chevrolet Cruze and Honda Civic in its rivals list.

The bookings for the Elantra are already open and deliveries are expected to commence soon after the launch and for this Hyundai has also stepped up the production as it expects the car to sell like hotcakes. Meanwhile, experts in the industry believe that the Elantra price will be the sole deciding factor as the segment already has a lot of attractive offerings and prominent among these is the Honda Civic. However, Elantra being a new car in the segment will fetch lot more response and gradually it could be possible that it bags the title of the best selling sedan in this segment just as the Hyundai Accent did during its golden days and what Hyundai Verna is doing in its segment that is just below the Elantra.

The Elantra launch date nears and so the industry is gearing up for a transformation. The one similar to what the Verna brought in the under Rs 11 lakh sedan market. In addition to its price, the Elantra features are also expected to beat its opponents including Skoda Laura, Renault Fluence and Volkswagen Jetta as well. The Elantra will be available in petrol and diesel engine options and will have a mileage of around 16.3 kmpl.
