Hyundai Eon sales crosses 50k mark, eats Alto and Santro’s market

Hyundai Eon, the small car by the Koreans seems to be the next best selling hatchback after Maruti 800 and Maruti Alto. The assumption is based on the recent achievement by this Hyundai’s small car when it has achieved a sales landmark of 50,000 units since its launch in October 2011. Major factors that have contributed in wide popularity are Hyundai Eon price starting at Rs 2.69 lakh and stunning looks to outshine its senior rival Maruti Alto.

The landmark figure of 50k unit sales is seen as a good indication for the Korean who has invested over Rs 900 crore in developing Eon which is true to the needs of the Indian small car buyer. With looks and features beating Alto in totality, Eon has the traits to shake the ground of small cars in India. Next thing that might helped Eon achieve this target figure is the exports. Hyundai has started exporting the car to various countries from India and the small car has bagged a similar response from other countries. The factor that has helped it most is the price which is lower than Hyundai Santro that starts at Rs 2.80 lakh.

Launched in October 2011, Eon has been constantly getting good response from small car buyers who seemed to be in search of an alternative of Maruti Alto. Though it could not pick up the mighty sales of over 24k units per month like Alto, but Eon managed to sell around 7k units consistently in the first three months of its launch. However, where Eon sales were climbing, it killed the sales of its senior Santro as anticipated. However, it is too early to predict the future sales figures of this car and it will need one year to settle down and show some steady sales.
