Hyundai Eon that delivers 26.3 kmpl!
Hyundai Eon model that delivers 26.3 kmpl mileage was unveiled in Philippines at the ongoing 2012 Manila International Auto Show. The local distributor Hyundai Asia Resources (HARI) has unveiled two cars- Hyundai Eon and four door Hyundai Veloster hatchback there. Notably, the Korean car maker had also unveiled the Veloster in India at the Auto Expo held in January but since then there is no buzz related to the Veloster launch in the country.

As per the media reports published in Philippines, the Hyundai Eon unveiled there is the same 0.8 litre powered one which is also available in India. The 55 hp, 75 Nm car with a five speed manual transmission is said to have delivered around 26.3 kmpl mileage in Philippines. This is much more than what the Hyundai car delivers in India. The Eon delivers 21.1 kmpl average in India. This is the entry level car by Hyundai India and is even placed below Hyundai Santro. Recently it has also gained much volume in March and has been one of the start performers of Hyundai India.

In Philippines, the Eon is sold in two variants. The entry level variant is priced around Rs 5.21 lakh in Indian currency while the top model is prices just over Rs 70,000. The top end variant offers air nag for the driver, all power windows and keyless entry along with USB connectivity for IPod. Back in India, the Hyundai’s small car offers the entry level car and competes with the segment leader Maruti Alto and recently with Toyota Etios and other small cars such as Honda Brio. Where Hyundai cars were the first preference of car buyers after Maruti cars, now that all these brands have settled down quite well, even Hyundai cars have started facing much competition.
