India Bound Jeep Compass Unveiled, Production Starts From June 2017
Finally, Jeep unveiled its one of the most awaited and affordable SUV named as 'Compass' in the Indian car market. It will be first made-in-India vehicle from the company and production will be started from the month of June this year. Fortunately, Jeep has a great chance to explore its market in India with the launch of this Compass SUV. The car will make its debut in India with an estimated price of Rs. 20.0 Lac ex-showroom, in both diesel and petrol engine, sometimes during the 2017 festive season.
Under the hood, the Compass will have a 1.4L multi-air turbocharged petrol and a 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol unit is expected to deliver the power of 160 bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm while the diesel mill will produce the power output of 170bhp / 350Nm. The India bound Jeep Compass will be equipped with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission with 4-wheel drive system.
Front of the Jeep Compass is more similar to the Grand Cherokee, which is showing its Jeep DNA. It is designed with the tough looks including the headlamps with LED DRLs, sporty alloy wheels, LED tail lamps and optional black roof making it more premium to its lovers.
In India, the Jeep Compass will be launched with more then 50 safety features including 6 airbags (standard feature), electric parking brake, parking assistance, advanced braking system with ABS, EBD, electric stability control (ESC), traction control, anti-fogging windshield glass and many others. Also, it will have the Jeep's terrain system with 4 drive modes i.e. Road, Sand, Snow and Rock.
