Mahindra recalls XUV 500 SUV
Man, which is the finest creation of God has defects and so is Mahindra’s finest creation Mahindra XUV 500 does. Recently, the car maker has recalled the SUV for some minor defects in the power window, some fluid hose defects and some problem with the wiper. But these are minor defects and so these will be dealt with easily. The faulty parts will be replaced and the models of 2011 and 2012 production year have been included in the recall. The car maker will be contacting the SUV500 customers directly and will then initiate the recall. The replacement of parts will be free of cost will be done in a phased manner.
As this is a minor recall, this will not at all dent the image of the car and will neither impact its sales. However, the increase in price recently has to some extent given a jolt to the sales of SUVs and a little bit of it is felt on XUV 5OO sales as well. Overall, the Mahindra SUV is still the best selling car in its segment leaving behind, much behind Tata Safari Storme, Tata Aria or any other SUV. The Cheetah inspired looks have really created wonders and these looks have impressed a lot of car buyers not only in India but in Australia, Europe and the new destinations in which the XUV500 is launched.
Though recalls are not new to India but the country is not at all accustomed to recalls and finds it cumbersome as well as demeaning for the brand. But the industry has welcomed the move by Mahindra that has not hidden anything and has accepted that some defective parts were used and these need to be replaced. In the past some car makers have recalled their cars terming it as product enhancement rather than an explicit recall. This transparency by Mahindra is expected to further strengthen its image among the SUV buyers in India.
