Mahindra XUV 500 achieves the mark of 75,000 units

Home grown auto manufacturing company Mahindra created a new landmark in history of its existence in Indian car market by selling out 75,000 units of its highly acclaimed SUV, XUV 500, after its launch in September 2011. Commenting on this achievement Mr. Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd, said that company is over enjoyed on this encouraging response of customers towards this SUV, due to which company succeeded in achieving this target within the span of two years since its launch. This is a milestone for company and for which it extends its humble thanks to its all customers.

At present company is selling XUV 500 in Australia and South Africa along with its country of origin India, and speculates to extend its mark by introducing the SUV in European countries and some more countries. XUV 500 is designed on company’s Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) research valley located in Chennai. Achieving the target of 75,000 is not the first achievement by this SUV, prior to this it has succeeded in grabbing the award of Customer Satisfaction study conducted by TNS Automotive Indian in 2012 for best SUV’s existing in the then Indian car market.

In the beginning XUV 500 was launched in two trims, W6 and W8, recently company launched W4 variant in Indian car market during November 2013. All trims XUV 500 are empowered with 2.2 litre mHawk diesel engine, which are integrated in its siblings Scorpio and Xylo. The engine is supported with six speed manual gearbox and is blessed with dual airbags, ABS and EBD.
