Maruti Alto F8D discontinued with the launch of new Alto 800

With the launch of new Maruti Alto 800 in the Indian market yesterday, the Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has discontinued the older Alto F8D model in the country. Launched in year 2001, the Maruti Alto F8D model has been ruling the small car market for more than a decade now. It has been the bestselling car in India, clocking considerably higher sales way ahead from its competitors.

However, the Alto K10 model, which comes powered by a 1 liter- 3cylinder K-Series engine, will continue to be sold in India. Now, the big question comes into the mind is that if Alto K10 will be offered in the form of new age Alto 800, or will it continue to come in the older Alto version? The industry sources claim that the company has no plans of launching Alto K10 in new generation version anytime soon.

The M800 model will continue to be sold in the smaller towns and villages, where BS-III norms are applicable and which are yet to move to stricter BS-IV emission norms. Also, the car will continue to be exported from India to a number of other countries. It is to be mentioned here that the M800 model was discontinued from the major Indian cities after the implementation of BS-IV emission norms in April 2010.

Moreover, this time around, the company is looking forward to take the Alto success even further by manufacturing 600 units per day in comparison to 300 to 400 units per day of older version. The company has already received over 10,000 bookings for the new Alto which will be delivered to the customers over the period of next few months. With a more efficient and powerful engine, and advanced technologies, the new Alto is expected to register higher success in the Indian market.
