Maruti Ertiga boosts domestic sales, exports slid by 23 percent

It is after a near slowdown in August, Maruti car sales have picked up again. This is all due to the unprecedented, unanticipated sales of the Maruti Ertiga. This car has really changed the fortune of the car maker and it has reported an increase of 9.8 percent over the same period last year. It is expected that the October sales will surpass all records as it will see the launch of Maruti Alto 800 on October 16 and there will be festive season car buying starting in mid of October after the considered-to-be inauspicious phase ends. The Ertiga MUV has been the newsmaker since its unveil at the Auto Expo and this has established itself well in the segment beating out Toyota Innova, Chevrolet Tavera and Mahindra Xylo. However, it is put under a tough phase by the recent launch of Mahindra Quanto.

In all, Maruti sold 93,988 units of cars in September and this is around 9.8 percent more than what it sold in September last year. Meanwhile, another significant improvement is the sale of Maruti small cars. This can be credited to the Maruti Alto K10 or the ahead of festive season offers on Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Wagon R Pro. Basically, it is due to the realignment of sales of Maruti Swift. The new small car addition soon will further improve the percentage and it is expected that the small car share in the total sales will improve by over 10 percent in October. Furthermore, the September sales also brought accolades following the sales of Maruti Swift Dzire compact sedan. As per the official figures, the car maker sold over eleven thousand units of Dzire which is an increase of over 24 percent increase.
