Maruti’s true MPV, Maruti Ertiga is just a week away from being unveiled at the Auto Expo 2012. The multipurpose car by Maruti will not only be a great option as a family car with a great Fiat source diesel option in it. Once in the Indian auto arena Maruti Ertiga will step into the land that Toyota Innova dominates. It will be a close call and it would be only Maruti Ertiga price that will sway the balance to its side. As per an estimate Maruti could price it between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh.
If we talk of the under the hood department in Ertiga, Maruti has taken care of it quite smartly. The Maruti Ertiga petrol will be powered by 1.4L K series powerplant that will give 95 bhp to the car with 13 kgm of torque. The Maruti Ertiga diesel will be smarter than the petrol car following the sky high petrol prices. The diesel avatar will be powered by 1.3L Fiat engine and will be outputting little less bhps than the petrol car but will be giving a decent torque of 20.93 kgm.

On the space inside front, it would be though irrational to compare Maruti Ertiga with that of Toyota Innova as being comparatively smaller than Innova we cannot expect large amount of space inside. However, it will be able to comfortably house seven people with enough headroom even for the third row. Furthermore, comfort is given priority in Maruti Ertiga as it will have roof mounted AC for consistent cooling even at the second and last row.
As per the details available, the Maruti Ertiga is based on Maruti Ritz platform and it has close resemblance to it specially in the front. It also draws similarity in styling with that of Maruti Swift in the design and placement of the front headlamps. In all the front styling gives Maruti Ertiga a true sporty look which is enhanced by large air intakes.
