Maruti Ertiga India launching tomorrow

After operating in the Indian market for more than 28 year, the Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has finally come-up with an India oriented MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) – Maruti Ertiga. The all new Ertiga MUV, which is scheduled to be launched in the country tomorrow, has been developed while taking into consideration the needs and requirements of the Indian buyers of this segment.

The company aims to mainly market the Ertiga MPV in the Indian market, the car was needed to be carrying an India centric design. It is to be mentioned here that all previous successful models of the company (including the likes of Maruti 800, Maruti Alto, Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Swift) were global models of its parent Suzuki, all of which were modified for the Indian conditions.

Unlike the other models of Maruti Suzuki, the Ertiga model will not be sold in the Japanese market and its global launch is taking place in the Indian market only. Besides India, the company will also launch this model in a few other ASEAN markets like Indonesia and Thailand.

The Ertiga model will be offered in both petrol and diesel versions in the country with a five speed Manual transmission. While the petrol version will be powered by a 1.4L K – series engine of Suzuki, the diesel version carries a 1.3-litre diesel engine to which Maruti sources from Fiat.

The managing executive officer of Maruti Suzuki, Mr. Mayank Pareek, quoted as saying to a business daily that key factors in the final designing of the Maruti Ertiga model were Indian families, their physical built and their members and their lifestyle. He added that the competitively priced Ertiga model will be having an impact on the creation of a new segment in the Indian market, as it will be positioned between the middle ground of an MUV (Multi Utility Vehicle) and a sedan.
