Maruti Ertiga launch on 11th April, 2012

Bringing very good news for the Indian car enthusiasts who have been eagerly waiting for the launch of Maruti Ertiga multipurpose vehicle (MPV) in the country, the Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has announced to roll-out this model on 11th April. In its operations of more than two and a half decade in India, this will be the first time when Maruti Suzuki will roll-out a vehicle in compact MPV segment.

The Ertiga MPV was introduced in the Indian market at the January’s Delhi Auto expo 2012, where the company counters were filled with a large number of customer enquiries for this vehicle. The huge excitement for the car in the Indian market indicates that Ertiga will give a tough fight to its rivals like Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo, Tata Aria and Ford’s upcoming EcoSport. Moreover, a comparatively lesser price range of Rs 6 to 8 lakh will further give Ertiga an upper hand over its rivals.

The petrol version of Ertiga will be carrying K-14 VVT 1.4 litre engine which hasn’t been used in any portfolio car of the company in India, so far. On the other hand, the diesel version of the car will come powered by a 1.3 litre DDiS Super Turbo engine, which will be sourced from Italian car maker Fiat. This is the same engine to which the company is sourcing for its entire diesel run vehicles of its India portfolio including Maruti Swift, Ritz, Dzire and SX4.

Buoyed with the pre-launch excitement for the Ertiga in the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki is aiming to sell about 5,000 units of this model per month. At present, there is a huge growth potential in the Indian MPV segment. As per the statics revealed by the company, the sales of MPV segment account for about 66 percent share of the total utility vehicle segment in India.
