Maruti Ertiga launched in Indonesia, over 50K units to be sold

The MPV – Maruti Ertiga by Indian car maker Maruti is expanding its wings to other nations as well. Recently, it was launched in Indonesia in three petrol only variants. Maruti has chosen to target Indonesian market as the car maker is receiving immense demand for Maruti cars from the country. In Indonesia, Ertiga will be competing aggressively with Nissan Grand Livina, Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia.

Back in India, the Ertiga is doing tremendously well with over 22,000 booking already in place and counting as there are more than expected queries for the latest MPV in India. Ertiga was launched in India on April 12 and its price starts at Rs 5.89 lakh for the petrol model Maruti Ertiga LXi while the entry level diesel model - Maruti Ertiga LDi price starts at Rs 7.31 lakh. At this price and with loads of features all joined to make Ertiga an instant success in India repeating the success story of Maruti 800 and Maruti Alto.

The best thing that has emerged in the Ertiga user reviews is lots of space and an excellent 7-seater diesel car at a price starting at Rs 7.31 lakh ex-showroom. At this price, Ertiga has gulped a major share of Toyota Innova and Chevrolet Tavera besides Mahindra Xylo however, the comparatively small size of Ertiga is a big minus compared to these cars. Also Indian MPV car segment is eagerly awaiting two new MPVs – Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Avalia, though price differently, these two MPVs will also be further stiffening the segment.

In Indonesia, Maruti’s Japanese partner Suzuki expects to sell around 50,000 units this year as the market is largely driven by MPVs just as hatchbacks drive the Indian car market. Also, the Indonesian car market is growing at a steady pace of 20 percent which is a good sign. Currently, Maruti cars and its Japanese partner Suzuki holds 10 percent of the market share and with the launch of Ertiga and forthcoming Maruti XA Alpha, the company expects to take it to further 15-20 percent.
