Maruti Ertiga spreads LUV in Indonesia as well, gets 8500 bookings

The Maruti Ertiga has created history in India with exceptional booking figures and commensurate sales in less than a month of its launch in India. Recently, the MPV Ertiga has bagged 8500 orders in Indonesia in which it was launched recently. In India as well, Maruti is heavily banking on the seven seater MPV and the recent sales is expected to realize Maruti’s dreams into reality. Starting at Rs 5.89 lakh, the Ertiga car was launched on April 12 and since then the MPV segment dominated by Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo is shattered much.

In Indonesia, Maruti expects to sell around 50,000 units this year followed by a much promising number later. If Maruti is able to sell Ertiga well in Indonesia which is a market driven by MPVs, the Ertiga alone will constitute one third of the total sales in the country. Notably, Maruti exports the Ertiga to Indonesia from India. The Ertiga is launched in Indonesia at a starting price of Rs 8.27 lakh in Indian currency on May 7. The top end model Ertiga GX is priced at Rs 9.55 lakh in Indian currency. Notably, Indonesia alone imports around one lakh cars annually from Maruti and is the largest importer of Maruti cars from India.

Things are pretty right for Ertiga. Powered by K14B engine, the Ertiga has the perfect combination of power and sophistication along with safety features. In Indonesia, the Ertiga MPV rivals the existing cars Toyota Avanza, Nissan Grand Livina and Daihatsu Xenia. Meanwhile, the 8500 bookings in Indonesia have set in tremors in the country and the rivals are expected to lower the price of their MPV in order to outshine Ertiga. As per some media reports, the made for Indonesia Ertiga models are front wheel driven based on Maruti Swift platform.
