Maruti Ertiga to take best MPV title from Innova, new Xylo

The next big launch in the Indian auto industry as per auto experts will be Maruti Ertiga MPV. Notably, Maruti has showcased the upcoming MPV at the 2012 Auto Expo held in New Delhi and since then there has been series of anticipations and the wait for the Maruti MPV seems to be finally over soon. The Maruti Ertiga will be quite bigger than its junior MPV Maruti Omni and the Maruti Versa’s another avatar Maruti Eeco. Both Omni and Eeco have recently been posing good numbers on the sales chart for Maruti. And, with the Ertiga in, it is expected that the largest car maker will be giving a tough time to upcoming Mahindra Xylo Mini. Besides this, it will also make the turf even more tougher for upcoming MPVs such as Nissan Evalia, Ashok Leyland Stile besides others. A snatching of the best MPV title from Toyota Innova is imminent following the price factor.

Based on the Ritz platform, the Ertiga MPV by Maruti will be available in petrol and diesel options and following the recent reports it will be premium in every aspect. It is expected to inherit the dashboard of Maruti Swift and a certain other features from the recently launched Maruti Swift Dzire under four meter sedan that has over 150 new features. A K series petrol engine with 94 bhp and a torque output of 130Nm is expected to power the Ertiga while a 1.3L Fiat sourced diesel engine will be doing its duty inside the Ertiga diesel. Notably, this is the same diesel engine that is also powering Maruti SX4 and will be tuned to produce 90 bhp.

A five speed manual gearbox will be mated to the engine of the Ertiga. As far as the seating pattern is concerned, the Ertiga will be available in five seater and seven seater option. Once in the Maruti Ertiga will shake the MPV market in India as it is expected to take a price tag of Rs 7-9 lakh which is well below than the claimed-to-be best MPV Toyota Innova and Chevrolet Tavera Neo3.
