Maruti Ertiga waiting period fattens to over six months
Credit it to popularity of Maruti cars or to some production constraints but this usually happens with every new Maruti car and it has gripped Maruti Ertiga as well. With unmatched demand and whooping 40 k bookings already, Ertiga waiting period for some selected diesel models has risen to over six months already. This could also dampen its prospects with respect to Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo and Chevrolet Tavera. Where Maruti can only produce 6000 units per month, it would be difficult for people to wait for the Maruti MPV. However, in the absence of a similar offering, the break away from bookings will be less and people are expected to stick to their bookings even after a half year waiting period. The reason for sky high demand for the Ertiga is the price that starts at Rs 5.89 lakh for the petrol and Rs 7.31 lakh for the diesel model.

This has marred the Maruti Swift, then the Swift Dzire and now it may play the spoilsport for Ertiga MPV as well. However, it is said that Maruti is vigorously trying to curb the rising pressure on the production line. It is said that Maruti will be utilizing the five production lines at Manesar and Gurgaon plants and will soon be pulling down the waiting period to reasonable level one they ramp up production of the LUV MPV Ertiga. CarKhabri has already expressed its concern in a news report about the rising demand and pressure of exports of Ertiga on the availability of this latest MPV by Maruti in India.

CarKhabri also believes that by the time Maruti will put things in shape and increases production of Ertiga, the damage to the demand would have been caused as the already risen waiting period will desist some of the new buyers and this could persuade them to buy Innova, Xylo or Tavera as the other viable options. However, Maruti as a brand is robust and analysis tells that there would be some damage by the longer Maruti Ertiga waiting period but no to the extent to that of Swift and Dzire as there is no immediately viable option as the Ertiga currently available in the market.
