Maruti Ertiga ZDi waiting period stretches to indefinite period

Maruti Suzuki India is enjoying the unparalleled response for its compact MPV Ertiga. The demand for the top end version of Ertiga’s diesel version has surged dramatically. Due to the out stripping demand for the ZDi variant MSI has announced indefinite waiting period for the high end version of diesel ZDi version. Dealers suggest that the long waiting period is because of the supply constraint of alloy wheels that are affixed in the ZDi and ZXi versions.

However, Maruti dealers can offer you the VDi and LDi trims in place of ZDi with same set of alloy wheels from Maruti’s accessories ramification. Generally demand for base and mid level trims like LXi, LDi, VXi and VDi are comparatively more than the demand for the high end models. MSI did not expect the demand for top end version to be this high; the company expected the demand to be around 30%. The price gap between the VDi and ZDi variants is around Rs 60,000, which is not that high. On the other hand bookings for the high end version ZDi have surged drastically and constitute approximately 50% of the bookings for Ertiga. Maruti Ertiga VDi lacks airbags, alloy wheels, height adjustable driver’s seat, rear defogger and rear washer wiper which are present in the high end version of Ertiga.
