Maruti S-Cross to be positioned between Maruti SX4 and Maruti Grand Vitara
Neither the Maruti SX4 worked well nor the Maruti Grand Vitara but the car maker seems bullish about the upcoming crossover Maruti Suzuki S Cross. Hoped to sit between the SX4 and the Grand Vitara, the new SUV by Maruti which is presently called as Maruti Suzuki S Cross will be a car that will be the new crossover contrary to the popular belief of being the SX4 replacement. It is also believed that the concept model of the S Cross shown at the Paris Auto Show will be the SUV and later it could remerge in a sedan body style to replace SX4. In all probability, the new Maruti SUV will be priced somewhere more Rs 10 lakh.

Notably, the SX4 sedan and the SUV Grand Vitara are both struggling to emerge as potent volume pullers in their respective segment but month after month their sales set record of lowest in months. Experts believe that the sales of these two could not pick up because these models are awaiting their facelifts and probably it is after they get a makeover that there could be some activity on the sales front. It is also believed that the makeover will be a grand one and it will be a full model change.
Meanwhile, the S Cross is believed to be built on Maruti Kizashi platform and thus it will be much bigger in size than the SX4. It is also known that the near production model of the new car will be displayed at the Frankfurt Auto Show. In the meantime, Maruti will be readying its true volume puller Maruti XA Alpha which will be straightaway in fight with Renault Duster and the upcoming Ford Ecosport. It is also expected that the new S Cross will give a tough time to its competitors as it will be a Maruti car.
