Maruti to start exporting Ertiga MUV and other models through CKD route from next year

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the largest car maker in India, is now planning to start exporting its cars to the overseas markets through CKD (completely knocked down) unit route. A top official of the company said on Tuesday that the firm plans to start exports of a number of its India portfolio models to the foreign markets. The decision has been taken to tap on the high growth potential exists in the export markets.

The company has said that its upcoming Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) Ertiga will be the first one to be dispatched to the overseas markets through CKD route. It is to be mentioned here that Maruti is all set to launch its first ever MUV Ertiga in the Indian market next month at the Delhi International Auto Expo.

According to Mr. S Nakanish, Managing Director, Maruti Suzuki India, in the coming months Maruti will be playing a role of biggest supplier of cars to its Japanese parent Suzuki Motor Corporation. While starting with the Ertiga MUV, the company will also dispatch other portfolio models from next year.

The Maruti Ertiga will be rolled-out in both petrol and diesel variants and will be dispatched to the overseas markets like Indonesia and Thailand. As per the company, the CKD kits of the Maruti cars that will be exported will also include critical parts including engine and transmission, wheel rim, fuel tank, brakes, parts strengthen of suspension and steering, etc. The company’s Manesar plant will be playing a major role in the production of the critical components of these CKD kits.
