Mercedes cars price to go down, Merc to assemble more cars in India
Mercedes Benz India seems to be desperate after it as lost its title of being the largest selling luxury car maker to BMW. In order to regain the lost numero uno position, the German car maker has decided to increase the localization level of its cars so that the pricing could come down and Mercedes cars become more affordable. Adding to the already India bound cars, Mercedes will be assembling Mercedes Benz GL class, Mercedes Benz B Class and Mercedes Benz A class as well in India soon.

The decision has been well taken by the people of India as whooping import duties on Mercedes cars imported as completely built units make these cars too costly and assembling them in India at their Chakan plant will drastically reduce Mercedes car price in India. The declaration came in at the launch of the Mercedes Benz M Class launch in New Delhi yesterday. The new Mercedes SUV has been launched at a starting price of Rs 56.90 lakh and the company also offers AMG series on this model.

As per the statement made by Mercedes Benz India CEO Peter Honegg, the car maker will start assembling over nine cars in India in the years to come. He also reportedly said that producing cars in India will greatly reduce import duties and the car maker will be able to price its car more aggressively. Currently the German car maker is assembling Mercedes Benz C Class sedan, E Class sedan and S Class sedan in India. Adding more in house production of models will also properly utilize the capacity of the Chakan plant will also help the car maker in getting its lost title from BMW. Besides, experts believe that this is a welcome move and this way Mercedes will be able to compete with its German rivals BMW and Audi in a more aggressive way.
