Mitsubishi Mirage’s India launch next year, Japan launch this month end

Mitsubishi Mirage, a small car developed in Thailand, is the talk of the mototown nowadays. And why not? This is the much-anticipated tiny four wheel in India since the launch of the upgraded Mitsubishi Pajero in March this year. The latest buzz indicates that this Thailand made small wonder will take its entry ticket in the next year that is 2013. In the meanwhile, Mirage is to debut in Japan on 31st August 2012.

The upgraded Mitsubishi Mirage was highly appreciated at the 2011 Bangkok Motor show; it was the re-birth of this car after seven years of absence from the market. The Mitsubishi Motors have been mulling to spread its wing in global market and Asian, European and few other markets are its major destinations. India and China are also on the radar. The auto manufacturer is going to have global presence of Mirage; therefore, it will target to produce per year 2 lakh units of the car at its Thailand plant by the end of 2013. In view to further achieve the goal, Mitsubishi could set up a production plant in China. As far as India entry of the car is concerned, it will be followed by the China launch of the same. When this small hatchback comes in India, it will be positioned against best selling hatches e.g. Chevrolet Beat, Hyundai i10, Ford Figo and Maruti A Star.

Now let’s look into the technical summary of this India bound hot wheel. Mirage may foray with a 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder petrol run engine; this is the same engine which is offered in the Japanese market. This 1.2 litre Mirage’s engine generates optimum 82 PS power along with 100 NM of peak torque in accordance with a 5-speed gearbox.
