Mitsubishi Colt, a small hatchback car by the Japanese car maker has been caught testing in Europe. The new version of the Japanese car will be launching in Europe in some time and it is being confirmed for the United States where it will be called Mitsubishi Mirage. The test mule that was a little camouflaged was spotted in Germany. Back in India, the Japanese car maker hopes to launch the Mitsubishi Mirage this year at an expected price tag of Rs 5 lakh. In India the fascination for the car has already begun as the Colt has already been unveiled at the January Auto Expo held in New Delhi. The test mule of the Mitsubishi Colt thus spotted was almost production ready with very little things hidden with black tape such as the head lamps, tail lamps and the Mitsubishi badge. Car experts believe that the mirage spotted testing closely resemble the one that is current on sale in Asia. Notably, in select markets, the Colt is offered in three and five door hatchback as well as in five door station wagon and two door hardtop convertible body styles.

The Mirage is expected to be under four meter car and will have price concessions applicable in India. However being a premium hatchback, the Colt, it will have to struggle a lot as car buyers prefer to have a sedan at Rs 12 lakh than sticking to a hatchback like Colt. The new Colt is also expected to have two petrol engine options viz. a smaller 1 L engine and a more powerful 1.2 L engine. Besides some stunning features, the car maker will be offering higher fuel efficiency on the Colt.
