More cars in the offering from Volkswagen

German automobile company Volkwagen has made announcements of launching more cars in India. These new cars might also include the compact car Up!

Volkswagen Up! has been the center of attraction at the ongoing Frankfurt Auto Show. It has been praised for its design, technology and spacious interior.

Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Vokswagen Group's Executive Vice President, said that Up! is at present being targetted for the European markets, but it maybe considered for the Indian as well as some other Asian markets, according to the feasibility studies. However, he feels that the localisation of its raw material and production will be necessary in doing the same.

Volkswagen is planning to localise its cars in India, in order to meet the demands in the country. The company is considering India an important market for its products and thus it is emphasizing on the development of local market. The company has confirmed that it wants to increase the percent of raw material produced in India from 70 percent to 75-80 percent in the near future.

At present, Volkswagen is maintaing its growth rate in India, inspite of the low in the market. The company has been introducing new models at regular intervals, and this has helped the company to build its brand value and increase its sales in the market.

The currently available models from Volkswagen, in India are - Hatchbacks Beetle and Polo, sedans Vento, Jetta, Passat and Pheaton, and SUV Touareg. The upcoming models from the company are - hatchback Golf and SUV Tiguan.
