MSIL drops the prices of S-Cross portfolio up-to Rs. 2 lakh
It seems that nothing has been going good with the first ever cross over S-Cross launched by country’s leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited being sold through Nexa premium showroom across the country. Although the S-Cross received warm welcome by car enthusiasts but immediately after one month of its launch the car maker slashed the prices of cross over about 1 lakh. Unfortunately this strategy did not worked for Indo-Japanese car maker and as an impact of which again few days back company lowered the prices of its 1.6 litre DDiS variant upto Rs. 5 lakh with rumours that company is going to phase out the variant due to poor sales. Now, once again the cross over is back in news as according to recent reports company has officially retrenched the prices of entire range offered in S-Cross upto Rs 2 lakh. This reduction in price would be applicable on all models offered under both 1.3 litre and 1.6 litre engine configuration. The prices of entire line up offered with 1.4 litre diesel engines has been declined from Rs.40,000 to Rs.60,000.
It would be interested to know that with an objective to enhance the sales of S-Cross in country its Special Edition Premia with additional features was also launched by company in the month of December. But despite of various efforts adopted by company the cross-over failed to impress the buyers in Indian car market. The first reason which at first instance seems to be responsible for poor sales of S-Cross is its pricing strategy which as compared to its contenders seems to be quite expensive.
