New Chevrolet Captiva launch around the corner

It’s raining MPVs and SUVs this fiscal in the Indian car market. General Motor’ Indian subsidiary recently launched Tavera’s upgraded version Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 in India and now is all set to spawn the spruced up version of its premium SUV Captiva. New Captiva’s launch is around the corner and can be launched any day, though the company has not announced any specific date for the launch of the SUV. On the other hand the company will be rendering another small car in India named Chevrolet Sail.

The new car will be placed above Beat and will also be priced above it; therefore it will be a part of premium hatchback segment. This is not it; Chevrolet has more cars under its kitty for this year. A lot of car makers have launched new MPVs in India, including the Maruti’s latest compact MPV Ertiga which was launched last week. Chevrolet too will be coming up with a new MPV named Enjoy, rumor has it that Enjoy MPV could be launched in India by August 2012, but the company officials say that they will unleash the MPV in India to lock horns with its rivals by the end of this year. Apart from this Chevrolet is also evaluating options to bring Trailblazer SUV in India, which will enter the SUV segment by 2013. Along with these Chevrolet will bring the sedan version of Sail hatchback, the Sail sedan in India around Diwali.

S. Sawhney, Sales VP, GM India stated that the company will add another hatchback to its clan of cars in India. He further added that a MPV launch plan is also in the works though the company has not zeroed in on the name of the MPV but the car could be launched in Q3 of this year. Chevrolet as of now has the popular Chevrolet Beat hatchback in both petrol and diesel guise in India, apart from that it also has Chevrolet Spark in the entry level segment. With the new products, Chevrolet eyes to raise its market share in India which currently stands at 6.5%.
