New Chevrolet Spark an open challenge to the competitors

The launch of new Chevrolet Spark is just around the corner and so much is expected from this small car. This time around, the company has made a whole lot of changes on the exteriors and made its appearance more classy and sophisticated. Apart from giving it a pleasing look, GM India’s main motto was to give an open challenge to the freshly launched small car, Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon. On 25th of October 2012, it would definitely be a sight to see as the Indian car market will turn into a battlefield between New Chevrolet Spark, Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon.

Price

If we start comparing these three, it would here itself turn into a combat zone. Let see the prices first. The 2012 Chevrolet Spark will not have a hefty price tag; it would be just Rs. 10,000-20,000 more than the existing price that starts from Rs 3.16 lakh. But that heat up the competition as both Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon has been priced very competitively. You can take home a new Maruti Alto 800 for Rs. 2, 44,000, while Hyundai Eon is available for Rs. 2, 74,821.

 

Engine

The engine is the most important part of a car. Just like heart is to body, engine is to car. Chevrolet Spark will not come with new engine, but will continue with the same 1.0 litre of petrol mill producing 63Ps power @ 5400rpm and 90.3Nm of torque @ 4200rpm. If we look at Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon engine, they are smaller than that of new Spark. Eon has 814cc petrol engine churning 56ps power @ 5500rpm along with 75Nm torque @ 4000rpm. And Alto 800 has 796cc petrol engine giving out 48Ps power @ 6000rpm with 69Nm torque @ 3500rpm. Engine wise, new Chevrolet Spark appears to be a strong contender.

 

Mileage

On the mileage front, Maruti Alto 800 is stealing the show. The car is delivering 17.5 to 22.74kmpl of fuel economy; its CNG variant takes the mileage figure rise up to 30.46km per kg. Hyundai Eon is close to Alto 800 and manages to give out 17.1 to 21.1kmpl of mileage. Finally, the new Chevrolet Spark will be delivering the same old 14 to 18kmpl of fuel efficiency.

 
Exteriors

Looks wise, Hyundai Eon is one of the most stylish small cars in the market today. But, the new Chevrolet Spark will give a head to head competition to it. The car will come blessed with modish bumpers in dual tone finish. This will enhance the style quotient of the car. However, lagging behind in this section is Alto 800, whose looks fail to impress in front of Eon and new Spark.

 
Interiors

The new Chevrolet Spark will come blessed with some exquisite features making it the winner in this section as well. The dual tone interiors with Optimax cabin and other comfort features would make the ride very delightful for the passengers. On the other hand, Hyundai Eon is also close in this section as it has been loaded with many comfort features as well. The only one lagging behind is Maruti Alto 800, which has many missing comfort traits like rear power windows, cup holders, central locking system, CD player or AM/FM radio for entertainment and more.
