New Chevrolet Spark launched at Rs 3.16 lakh

The Maruti Alto 800 has been launched and the fear can be seen in the eyes of other small car makers in India. Specially, Chevrolet which will get the hit most as the Alto 800 is its prime rival. Now in order to take precedence at least in terms of launch, the American car maker has launched the new Spark today.  The small car has been enjoying a honeymoon phase after Maruti has decided to pull the Maruti 800 out of the fleet due to non conformity of the car as per the new pollution norms. The new Spark as it is revealed is more charming little bug than the predecessor. The new prices of Spark models are disclosed and the pricing starts from Rs 3.16 lakh for the base model. The bookings were already on for the new Spark and as per the sources information, there are more than enthusiastic bookings for the car.

As part of the design changes that Chevrolet has given to the new Chevrolet Spark to make it ‘new’ compared to the existing Spark are new front fascia that includes new front styling incorporating new front bumpers, new grille that is much small than the present Spark. The car now has a larger air dam and it seems that the car will be breathing a lot from here. This new addition to the front image takes the car close to an SUV. The front bumpers have new fog lamps as well. The headlight assembly is the same. The bow tie logo of Chevrolet now houses on the horizontal bar on the grille rather than the bonnet.

The changes are restricted to looks of the car only and the makeover has not reached under the hood. The same 1 L petrol engine powers the car. What is to be seen that how much damage the Spark could make to the new Alto 800 car and how well it is accepted in the Indian car market against the Maruti Alto K10.
