New Honda Civic diesel launch soon

Honda must have realized that only a handful of cars in diesel won’t improve the situation and that is why, the car maker is soon to add more diesel engine powered variants to its fleet. In this series, the car maker will be launching Honda Civic with 1.6 L diesel engine option. Notably, this is the EarthDreams powered engine and thus it is expected to have a mileage of over 27 kmpl. Thus it will be a highly fuel efficient car and this will then mix comfort, luxury of the Civic with that of fuel efficiency and performance as well. The new Civic will be launched early next year. 

The engine that Honda is testing on Civic is the 1.6 L iDtec turbo charged engine that has a peak power output of 120 bhp and max torque output capacity of 300 Nm. This is considerably enough power for the Civic sedan and its amazingly well mileage is the biggest plus point that will trigger its sales in the UK where it will be launched. The new Civic’s diesel engine will be mated to the six speed manual gearbox. As per reports, this same engine will also be placed under the hood of the new 2013 Honda CRV in Europe. The CR-V currently has the 2.2 L diesel engine option. 

Meanwhile, Honda diesel cars a real must in India where the car maker is suffering due to lack of diesel engine options on its cars. Honda City, Civic, Honda Accord or the CRV no one has a diesel engine option. Some reports suggest that the car maker is also thinking of putting a smaller diesel engine under the hood of Honda Jazz. It would be a wonder if Honda could make Honda Brio Diesel a reality as that will really prove to qualify its cars for being the best selling cars. The Brio based sedan which will have a diesel engine option is also hoped to change the fate of the car maker in India.
