New Honda Civic launch uncertain
As Honda is showing no sign of launching New 2012 Honda Civic sedan in India, it seems that the company is not planning to bring new Honda Civic sedan in India. The car has been launched in various countries across the world but India has been left out. There are older models of the car which are being sold in the Indian market but the company has not shown any indications that they would be replaced soon. Sources said that Honda has been trying to justify its decision for not launching the sedan by saying that it does not have diesel engines in its portfolio.

It is because of the lack of diesel engine the company has not launched the car in the Indian market. It seems that the argument of the company is just an excuse as the company has recently launched 1.6 litre i-DTEC turbo diesel engine. The engine produces 120 Bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. Honda would produce the engine in the UK which was unveiled a year ago. The additional advantage of the engine is that it is fuel efficient and emits low emissions. It is the same engine that would be used in 2012 Civic. But, Honda is yet to take a decision on launching the car in India with 1.6 litre iDTEC turbo diesel engine.

It seems that the Honda Civic lovers will face disappointed as they will have to wait for the new 2012 Honda Civic sedan which would replace the older version of the car. But, it is also not sure, how long the wait is going to be. Since, Civic which was launched in India managed to attract the customers now required to be replace with new variant as it comes with a diesel engine. In Europe the 2012 Civic sedan comes with a 2.2 Liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine, generating 148 Bhp and 350 Nm. Where Honda is playing on the back foot, Renault India is playing it on the front foot and will be launching its fourth car – Renault Duster SUV on the coming July 4. This SUV will be retuning a mileage of over 20 kmpl on diesel and will also be highly frugal on petrol as well. Moreover, this SUV is expected to take a price tag of a sedan and thus what experts believe is bumper sales even in times of a slowdown.
