New Honda Civic not coming in India!

Honda India, who is known for offering premium sedans to the Indian consumers, is in no plans to bring in the 2012 Honda Civic to the Indian car market. The latest Honda Civic model received an awe-inspiring response, when it was launched in international car markets, such as Australia, Thailand and United States of America. But the reason behind not launching 2012 Honda Civic in India is the sudden shift of preference to diesel cars from petrol in the country. Also, Honda Civic is quite expensive, which comes out to be pretty heavy on pocket.

According to latest market buzz, Honda will not be introducing the latest Honda Civic in the country. No official word is available so far in this regard. In the Indian car market, Honda had introduced Civic in 2006 and at that point of time the sedan went on becoming the segment leader. However, the sky rocketing petrol prices lowered the Civic graph in the country.

In the last fiscal year, the sales figures of Honda Civic came down to 2296 units, which is way too less than the sales figures of cars like Chevrolet Cruze and Toyota Corolla Altis. Another main reason behind not launching ninth Generation Honda Civic in India is the price. The current model of the sedan is already ranging between Rs. 13 to 16 lakh and the new model has been priced even higher than this. Therefore, it would obviously become unsuitable for the Indian car market.

Honda Civic is currently facing a tough competition from the new heroes of the segment, such as Skoda Laura, Toyota Corolla Altis, Renault Fluence and Chevrolet Cruze, which are available with the diesel engine option.

The sales figures of Honda India have been tumbling down since last couple of months. In June, the sales went down by 23%, which quite a big figure. Therefore, it could turn out to be a good decision of not introducing 2012 Honda Civic into the Indian car bazaar.
