New Honda CRV rendered in UAE, India still awaits the launch
India has been eagerly waiting the launch of the next gen Honda CRV crossover, though there is still no clarity as to when the next gen CR-V will see the Indian shores. Honda recently lifted the covers off the CR-V in Dubai, UAE. Before this the new Honda CRV was being offered in USA, apart from this the revamped crossover has also been unveiled in Manila and Philippines. The fourth gen CR-V that will be offered in the gulf will adorn a 2.4 liter petrol engine. The in-line four cylinder engine powering the new Honda CR-V is mightier than its forerunner and can produce a maximum power of 188 bhp. The torque has also been increased substantially to 222 Nm, the engine is mated to a five speed manual transmission that powers the front wheel in normal mode and manages to send power to the rear axle if required.

SUVs in India have become a major attraction with almost all major car cos vying to bring in SUVs to lure the Indian customers. Auto Expo 2012 also saw an influx of new SUVs and MPVs planned to be launched in the coming time in India. Looking at the surge in demand for the diesel powered cars in India, Honda might be thinking to hold the launch to render a diesel version of the SUV. But this is what we think; the company might have a completely different plan. Honda CRV’s rival Toyota Fortuner has been garnering good sales ever since its launch in January in a new avatar. Toyota Fortuner is available in automatic gearbox as well, therefore to sustain the competition; Honda CRV might also be available with automatic gearbox option. The upgraded Honda CR-V is expected to be a tad smaller on the exterior front, but the interiors will be spruced up to render a new look. Also, the new Honda CRV crossover will sport new features, including the safety features too.
