New Hyundai Elantra, Santa Fe unveiled at Beijing Motor Show

After unveiling the India bound Hyundai Elantra in India at the Delhi Auto Expo, Hyundai yesterday unveiled the China bound Elantra at the grandiose Beijing Motor Show. Rumours suggest that the saloon will be introduced with a different name in Chinese market; sources close to development suggest that the car will be named Langdong for the Chinese market. Along with the new Elantra, the company also exhibited the new Hyundai Santa Fe at the on-going Beijing Motor Show.

Langdong is being inducted in the exponentially growing Chinese market to further ramp up the sales of Hyundai Motors. The car will be manufactured at the Hyundai’s new third plant and the production of the car is likely to begin in the second half of the year. Hyundai’s third plant is being built under the collaboration of its Chinese partner and will have a capacity to manufacture 1 million units a year. The Langdong saloon will be bestowed with the Hyundai’s Wind Craft design, a part of Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture.

Hyundai Langdong will be offered in two engine options, 1.6L and 1.8L, the former comes with a capacity to generate 93.8kw power and a 155.5Nm of torque. The car is also expected to be extremely frugal. The interiors will flaunt sheer luxury and are expected to come equipped with a navigation system, dual-zone and fully automatic air conditioning; ventilated, fully adjustable power seats with seat heaters, an LCD instrument display and push-button start.

Hyundai is known for equipping its cars for high quality safety features, continuing its trend, the auto honcho will render safety features like side air bags, as emergency brake reminder and a tire pressure monitoring system along with other features.

Hyundai will introduce its advanced Blue Link infotainment system to Langdong. Blue Link offers a wide variety of features such as safety and maintenance alerts, navigation and remote control, all with minimum driver distraction. Starting from the first half of this year, Hyundai plans to expand its lineup of cars in China that offer the Blue Link service.

Also at Beijing, Hyundai unveiled its all-new Santa Fe, which made its world premiere at the 2012 New York International Auto Show this month. The new Santa Fe showcases the brand's cutting-edge capabilities through its new design, impressive fuel economy and a host of advanced features.

Hyundai’s premium SUV, Hyundai Santa Fe’s new avatar was also revealed at the Beijing Motor Show. The SUV has received some cosmetic changes on the in terms of looks and will don a new hexagonal front grille. Hyundai with its new Santa Fe SUV is targeting families who need space and comfort of a crossover both at the same time.

Apart for the new Langdong sedan and the upgraded Hyundai Santa Fe, The South Korean auto major also exhibited its luxury cars and its newly developed powerplant technologies. The auto maker also displayed the green cars including its Extended Range Electric Vehicle concept car i-oniq, the Sonata Hybrid, BlueOn and its ix35 FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle). The new Hyundai Santa Fe is expected to be brought to the domestic market. Hyundai has recently launched the revamped luxury saloon Hyundai Sonata in India with awe-inspiring looks and world class features, Hyundai is one of the strong players of the small car segment in India. The Korean car cos is now eyeing to grab a spot in the luxury segment too.
