New Maruti 800 coming, will be a prime rival of Nano and Datsun cars

It was almost sure that Maruti will not let Maruti 800 die an untimely death and specially when it is selling well even today and is the first car for the middle class. Though Maruti Alto has replaced it to some extent still the Maruti 800 wins on the price front. On the other hand, Tata Nano has also done the damage to 800 cars. Now that the new Maruti 800 is soon to arrive, will it be able to revive the under Rs 2 lakh car market that currently only has the Nano. It seems that new 800 will be a sure winner in this segment which was once the hottest and it could also become one once the Maruti small car is launched this Diwali.

As per the new 800 leaked specification and the spy picture renderings of the new 800 available, the new Maruti car seems to be much better than the old 800 and the F8D Alto. A close look at the dimension suggests it is bigger, taller and robust looking than 800 or the Alto. Besides the 796 cc 3 pot engine will be able to return better mileage under the hood of the new 800 than the Alto. But the real question is that whether the new 800 will be able to repeat the history that was created by the outgoing 800? It seems that in the changed circumstance it will be but no to that extent.

There are pretty clear reasons behind this proposition of not so exemplary success of the new 800. The first one is the Tata Nano, second is the shift in the preference towards big cars, and the third is the upcoming Nissan Datsun cars. Obviously, the Nano will be the closest rival of new 800 and it is expected the by that time, Tata may be able to fit in a diesel motor under the hood of Nano. If that happens, forget new 800, forget Alto and it will be Nano, reads an expert option.
