New Maruti 800 launch nearby, price to be around Rs 2 lakh

What is going to save Maruti in this grim situation when two of its best selling cars – Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire are out of production due to the ongoing lock out at Manesar plant. It must be some offering that will compensate for this loss and it should recoup sales in a big way. This new Maruti car will be the new Maruti 800. As per the latest update, the new 800 will have a price somewhere around Rs 2 lakh and at this price it will no doubt be a volume puller. Also, the timing will be the best as Maruti hopes to launch this new car this Diwali.

Experts believe that year 2011 and this year have not been too fruitful for the car maker and it is not less than a big blow that two of its best models are out of production. As per a media report, the car maker has suffered a loss of around Rs 2000 crore following the close down of the Manesar plant. Still, the plant is closed and there are rumors doing rounds that the plant will be operational soon in the coming few days, may be on Friday. Now that Maruti has learnt that Manesar plant is where all things go wrong, it will be producing the new 800 at the Gurgaon plant where the outgoing 800 was also produced. Meanwhile, it is also believed that the new car is almost ready and it is undergoing final touches.

The new Maruti car is believed to be available in LPG and CNG variant just like the Maruti Alto. Strikingly, sales of Alto CNG and Alto LPG has increased considerably in the past couple of months due to the already high fuel prices. The small car Maruti 800 is believed to further compensate the loss that the non production of Swift and Dzire has made to the company. The hurrying for the new 800 launch is seen as Maruti efforts to minimize the damage due to the Manesar crisis.
