New Maruti 800 to be priced above Alto!
Car makers are eyeing this Diwali to do some wonder to the car market in India. However, some recent launches such as Maruti Ertiga have in fact improved the face of the car industry and some upcoming cars such as Renault Duster are expected to further give it a slight touch, but the real reform will be there during the festive season when there will be most of the car buying in the country. Meanwhile, when almost all the car makers are preparing for some or the other car launched this Diwali, Maruti will be launching the new 800 cc car that is expected to revolutionize the Indian car market just as the Maruti 800 did.

As per the information available, the new 800 cc car by Maruti launching this Diwali will be all the more fuel efficient and more affordable than the present entry level car Maruti Alto. It is expected that Maruti will be commencing its production this August and will be introducing it right at the moment when Indian car buyers buys cars. However, some sources confirm that the new 800cc car by Maruti will be positioned above the Alto as with the technical enhancement of the car, the development cost has also gone up. If this comes out to be true, expect the new Maruti car to be priced somewhat in the range of Rs 2.80 to Rs 3 lakh. Meanwhile, the sources have also said that the development of the car is almost finalized and Maruti has also tested it various phases and it will be a big surprise for the Indian car market.

The three cylinder petrol car will be high on mileage front and power as well besides being high on features. Expected to be launched this Dusshera – Diwali, the new Maruti 800 will then push the Maruti Alto F8D to be the entry level car. Now all eyes are on this car and Maruti expects the same response as the last generation of Maruti 800 had.
Meanwhile, as per the recent car buying trend in India, there is vigorous SUV buying in India and commensurately there are SUVs offerings launching this year. The Renault Duster launch is slated on July 4 and the Ford Ecosport could be launched this Diwali. Significantly, the Duster SUV is said to have the genes to match to the small car sales target in India. To be priced somewhere near to a full sized sedan price, the Duster will be offered in petrol and diesel engine options with high mileage delivery by the latter engine.
