New Maruti small car launch by this year end
Passenger car segment ruler, Maruti Suzuki India is all prepared to introduce a new compact small car that is fitting enough to take-on Hyundai Eon in every aspect—including exterior and interior design. The trendy and chic looking compact car is expected to be launched by late 2012 and will be priced in the range of INR 2.5-3.5 Lakh. The launch of this mini car, which is currently unnamed, will mark the initiation of Maruti's new designing language. According to the reliable report, the company will concentrate more on fuel efficiency and low maintenance.

All this and much more will be made available with the loss of iconic Maruti 800. Yes, that’s true. The all-new compact car will act as a replacement for nearly 3 decade old M800 in India—with a brand new name. This step is been taken to compete with the new generation engines and contemporary design engineering of the challengers.
Currently, the average monthly sales of M800 is around 2,000 units and the company doesn’t want to drop these juicy numbers by merely making iconic car a history but, to come up with a new car on the same platform and similar F8D engine. As per Maruti, this anonymous car will be an apt answer to ever rising petrol prices, low fuel efficiency and crowded city conditions, where the compact car segment will again take a climb.

Maruti 800 once enjoyed the title of ‘bestselling car’; which was later took away by stable-mate Maruti Alto, but was not seen in BSIV (Bharat Stage IV) cities since September’2010 due to stricter emission norms.
In the same 800cc segment, Tata Motors is gearing up with Tata Nano 800cc, whereas, Nissan-Renault alliance is also gazing the same segment from long. Hence, as the car makers wrestle for the small car segment, the consumer will witness a number of choices in near future.
