New Skoda Laura with longer wheelbase in the offing, launch early next year
The Czech car maker Skoda will be launching the new Skoda Octavia with a longer wheelbase soon. The Skoda Octavia is sold as Skoda Laura in India. The longer wheelbase in the next generation Skoda Laura will help increase the front and rear leg space and will provide much stability to the car at high speeds. The new wheelbase could stretch to more than the current 2578 mm. This will also have positive impact on the boot space and it is also expected to rise by several litres. With the new Octavia (Laura) in, it will be much larger than its rivals including Volkswagen Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze, Renault Fluence and Toyota Corolla Altis. The new Skoda Laura with longer wheelbase is expected to arrive next year.

Similarly, there are reports that Skoda is preparing a smaller version of made for India car Skoda Rapid and will introduce it in Europe. There the car will be sold under Skoda Octavia. As per the latest information, the Rapid is being tested with the revised length and commensurate interiors. It is hoped that the small Rapid will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.

Skoda cars specially Skoda Laura has made their significant place leaving behind the rivals from its parent which is Volkswagen Jetta or from the Americans the Chevrolet Cruze or the French car Renault Fluence or be it the Japanese car Toyota Corolla Altis. With the introduction of the longer wheelbase version it is expected that the car will have more stability even at higher speeds thus making it much safer on long journeys. The longer wheelbase of the Skoda Laura will also help boost the boot capacity further. It is currently 560 litres. The current storage capacity with seats folded down is 1430 litres and it will also be increased further by litres.
