Skoda Octavia launch soon in India as new Laura
It is bigger, it is smoother and it is none other than the all new Skoda Octavia aka Skoda Laura in India. The car that has appeared and sensationalized various auto shows is all set to hit the Indian shores albeit in a new name – new Skoda Laura. As per the sources information and other details about the Skoda car launch plan in 2013, the car is expected sometime in the middle of this year. This means it is highly expected anytime from April onwards. The Octavia has been renamed as Laura for India and the car was a success when it was first launched in India as Octavia. The new Laura is expected to get a price appreciation to the tune of 5-7 percent and it will be competing with Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Corolla Altis besides other cars in the segment.
Recently, there have been some revelation regarding the India specific model of the new Laura. As per the information, the new car will have four engine options rather than three currently besides a host of so many exterior and interior changes. Based on the new MQB platform, the new car model by Skoda is high on performance as well. Lighter in weight than the present Laura in India, the new 2013 model will have better performance as well as high mileage despite of the fact that the engines are more powerful.
There will be two petrol and two diesel engine options and the 7 speed DSG dual clutch gearbox could be copied to the new model as well. With the new platform, the new car has more space for occupants inside thereby more space to fit in luxury features. In all, with new features, new engine line up and more space inside besides a host of new features, the new Octavia is all set to enter the C+ segment with a thud.
