New Suzuki Grand Vitara launch on August 27

Maruti is soon to launch its new SUV for India – Maruti XA Alpha. But prior to that it seems that its Japanese partner is doing its best to establish the rest of the SUV line up as it must have fears that the new Maruti SUV will wipe out the rest. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara that is available in only petrol model in India has been launched in a new attire in Australia and is expected to be heading to Russia next. The close to Rs 17 lakh priced car barely competes with Skoda Yeti, Tata Aria, Ford Endeavour or the Chevrolet Captiva as it lacks the diesel model which is expected to be a must in this segment. Also, when India is obsessed with fuel efficiency and looks for mileage in a Ferrari car as well.

The Australian model of the Suzuki Grand Vitara has also been launched with minor changes on the exteriors and in the transmission department. The new Grand Vitara is a 2WD model and thus it has become civilized and ‘Urban’ than the rugged and dirt buster 4WD variant. The new 2WD car has been named as Suzuki Grand Vitara Urban as it now fears to go off the road. The new Vitara has a 2.4 L petrol engine that gives 163 bhp to the car and a maximum torque of 225 Nm. The diesel model outputs 127 bhp and higher torque of 300 Nm than the petrol car.

Among the features that are there on the new Vitara are new front grille, more cleaner and aerodynamic exteriors along with new fabric for the seats inside and new 17 incher alloys. However, the Grand Vitara price has remained as pricey as before and it starts at $ 24,990 in Australia that is around Rs 15 lakh in Indian currency. The Russian excursion of the new Grand Vitara is expected to be at the Moscow Motor Show on August 27.
