News plans for Volkswagen, new platforms for cars

The German car maker, Volkswagen has previously claimed to become the largest car manufacturer by 2018, but sadly the plans are looking a bit dizzy as the firm is not performing up to the mark right now. But on a positive note, there are few rumors in the market, which suggests that Volkswagen is now not targeting 2018 but willing to become the largest car maker in the global market by 2016. This might seem a bit difficult, but one thing is for sure that Volkswagen does have a lot of potential to reach new heights and achieve this goal.

Volkswagen has been going for new tactics and strategies, which would help the firm in reaching the top spot in the global car market by 2016. One of the major tactics is to focus on providing emotional values with their cars, like strong perceived quality, driving pleasure, stunning design and world class engineering to the consumers. In future, all the Volkswagen car models will come based on any one of the three modular structures, comprising of MQB, MLB and MSB.

The MQB structure from Volkswagen is the front wheel drive architecture with transverse engine plan. This structure will actually go on becoming the cash cow of VW. Cars like VW 2nd generation Tiguan, MKVII Volkswagen Golf, 2014 Volkswagen Passat, next gen Volkswagen Polo Subcompact, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Scirocco coupe, 3rd generation Audi TT and Audi A3 will be based on MQB platform. Moving on to the MLB structure, it is quite same as the MQB, but comes with longitudinal engine arrangement and would feature in 3rd generation Volkswagen Touareg, Volkswagen Phaeton, 2014 Audi A4, Audi A8, Audi A6, Audi Q7, Audi Q5 and Audi Q2 (launching in 2013). Lastly the MSB platform from Volkswagen will have RWD/AWD, mid, front or rear engine structure, which will be seen in upcoming Porsche cars.
