Nissan Micra recall, 5 lakh are under scanner in Japan

Japan’s second largest car maker, Nissan plans to call back about five lack Nissan Micra hatchback cars in Japan. The reason behind this recall is to repair an external rear combination light, which was not working perfectly. So far, there hasn’t been any injuries or accidents reported because of this problem. However, when enquired about the total cost of this recall, Nissan Motors decided to keep mum on the topic. This problem occurred only in the Nissan Micra hatchbacks, which were sold in Japan. These faulty cars were developed and manufactured in the Oppama factory of Nissan located in the South Tokyo between the time period of February 2002 to February 2009. Few of these faulty Micras were also built in Sunderland plant of Nissan in Northeast England from June 2007 to December 2007.

To be exact, Nissan would be calling back 4, 98, 793 Micra cars and this might actually cause a big hole in Nissan’s pocket. Recalling cars have become quite prominent amongst many car makers these days. The reason behind this frequent recalling is the use of common components in numerous car models. Using the common components actually saves lot of production and design costs.

In November 2012, Toyota Motors also called back 2.77 million vehicles across the world. The problem in Toyota cars were related to water pump and steering wheel. Taking the figure into account, it was the third international recall of more than one million vehicles for this year.In India as well, many car makers called back their vehicles due to some or the other problem. This recalling certainly incur a huge costs, but it is certainly nice to see that the car makers are worried about their consumers and are ready to fix the problem in the vehicles quickly.
