Nissan Micra recalled globally, Indian model unaffected

Nissan has reportedly recalled 249,522 units of the Nissan Micra Global version across globe after it found a faulty sensor in the fuel injection system. As per reports, the Indian models are not included in the recall as the Indian Micra is different from the export model. Furthermore, the recall is part of the global recall of Micra by Nissan. 9,000 units of made in India Micras are being recalled in Europe. Notably, Nissan exports Nissan Micra and Nissan Sunny sedan from India besides producing these cars for India. The export of Nissan Sunny sedan has recently begun by the Japanese car maker.

As per sources, the made in India Nissan Micra global models have a faulty sensor in the fuel injection system that detects and warns fuel leakage is faulty and thus has recalled Micras globally so that the sensor can be replaced. Among the made in India Micra there are seven models that have been recalled in Europe. Apart from India, the made in Japan and made in Britain Micras have also been recalled. Sources also revealed that apart from Micra other cars such as Nissan Patrol, Nissan Serena, Nissan Infiniti and Nissan M besides Nissan Infiniti QX have also been recalled following the same glitch.

As per Nissan, the Nissan Micra models sold in India are unaffected and thus no recall has been declared in the country. It is only the export models of Nissan Micra that are part of the recall. Significantly, the made in India Nissan Micra exported to Europe were recalled in 2010 as well by the company following some technical issue that was causing noise in the car. However, it was not a formal recall as the present one.  

In India, the Nissan Micra hatch has done considerably well after the introduction of Micra Diesel model. Soon after its launch, Nissan has started exporting the hatch from India to Europe and soon became third largest car exporter after Hyundai and Maruti.
