Peugeot 2008 Compact SUV to compete with Ford EcoSport

These days, almost every car maker in the business wishes to tap the compact SUV segment. Every other month, one launches a mini-SUV. The most anticipated one to be launched in Indian car bazaar this year is Ford EcoSport. This one is scheduled to be launched in the coming months. According to the rumors floating in the market, the European Auto major, Peugeot might enter the Indian market in near future with its 2008 Compact SUV. The car is expected to be put against EcoSport.
 

As seen in the pictures, the Peugeot 2008 Compact SUV will be around 4.15 meters in length and about 1.75m in width. The 2008 compact SUV will be places below the 3008 model, which was also in the news from last couple of years. According to the grapevine, Peugeot might also launch a tow door version of 2008, and could sell it under 1008 moniker.

Talking about Peugeot 2008 Compact SUV, the car might be rolled out in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol one will be the 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 110BHP, 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol mill churning out 156BHP and 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol motor producing 156BHP. On the other hand, the diesel engine options would comprise of 1.6 litre e-HDI diesel generating 92BHP power and 1.6 litre e-HDI diesel mill producing 115BHP of peak power.

The new Peugeot 2008 compact SUV is expected to appear for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show, which is scheduled to take place in March 2013. As far as the official sale is concerned, the car might hit the global markets in the second half of 2013.It would be interesting to see how Peugeot 2008 Compact SUV competes with the much awaited Ford EcoSport in India.
