Production Capacity of Maruti to Reach 17.5 lakh units in Two Years

India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti is expecting to touch the significant figure of 17.5 lakh unit production in two years, according to the statement of Managing Executive Officer (production) M.M.Singh in CII logistics seminar.

The current strength at Manesar plant in Gurgaon is 13 lakh.

While working out on plans, Mr. Singh said that the second plant would raise the capacity to 15.5lakh units per annum for the second plant company has invested 1,700crores.

Once the third plant is operational in two years, the company’s production capacity will be 17.5 lakhs units.

A number of reasons are there for the new plant the most important reason is the set up of new Maruti Swift which is expected to pull tremendous sales. The company is also ready with Maruti 800 replacement which was recently snooped.

Maruti’s decision to invest in raising production is a wise one in setting up a new plant.

Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Toyota Etios Liva, Ford Figo, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Force OneNissan SunnyMaruti Cervo and Honda Brio.
