Renault to launch Maruti Ertiga, Innova rival soon

Renault Lodgy is coming to India and is a part of the five new cars that the French car maker will be launching in the country. Basically, a Dacia product just like Dacia Duster, the MPV Lodgy will be launched in India sometime two years from now. It will be doing just what Duster did to the segment. As per the information, the Lodgy or the J92 as it is codenamed for now will be competing with Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo in the segment. The segment is hot enough that it will be welcoming any new car with the same jest with which it has welcomed the Ertiga.

Being a Dacia product, the Lodgy will have the same traits as the Duster. The most prominent among them is the affordable price. Also in order to make it more viable, the car maker will be manufacturing the car at its plant in Chennai and this will also streamline supply of the car. In addition to the immense space proposition inside the car, the car will also bank on its high mileage in diesel just like the Duster. It is also believed that the new Renault car will have a space for eight people instead of seven as the car maker is thinking of giving a third row full seating instead of two jump seats. In India it will have two engine options – petrol and diesel.

Where the same diesel engine powering Renault Fluence, Renault Pulse and Duster will be there, the petrol engine will be of 1.6 L capacity. God knows what the situation be like as the government proposes to increase price of diesel in the coming months and it is anticipated that petrol car sales will have jump then. But whatever be the scenario, the car will have immense possibilities as the future is that of SUVs and MPVs, it seems. The price of the car is believed to be in the range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 11 lakh.
