Suzuki launches Ertiga in Thailand, AT version also on sale
After making a jolt in the Indian car market, Maruti Ertiga is all set to spill magic in overseas market. Few days ago we brought you the news that Ertiga will go to Indonesia, here we are with another update. Thailand is the new market which Ertiga has explored. The LUV as it is named by MSI, will be shown at the Bangkok Motor Show that will commence next week. Pricking the suspense already, the company has already asserted price, variants and specifications of the Thailand bound Ertiga.
Suzuki is spreading the awareness about the vehicle in Thailand and is working on the marketing strategy of the MPV. Just like in India it is also being promoted as LUV aka Life Utility Vehicle in Thailand too. The three attributes that differentiates Ertiga from other MPVs are comfort, good handling and utility space.
The Thai Spec Ertiga will be packed with a 1.4 litre VVT K-Series petrol motor just like the Indian trim. Ertiga GA is the basic model that will come with a five speed manual transmission. The next variant is Ertiga GL that has been placed in the middle and Ertiga GX is the high end version. GL and GX trims will be mated to a four speed automatic transmission. This is the same automatic transmission that comes in Maruti Dzire and Maruti Ritz. Ertiga GX will come equipped with significant features like airbag (present in the driver and front passenger seats) and Anti Lock Brake System. Aluminium alloy wheels will be affixed in GX and GL variants.
Ertiga will be exported to Thailand from Indonesia as we had informed you earlier. However the base of production will remain in India as Ertiga is exported to India via CKD route. These CKD kits are then assembled in Indonesia and will further be shipped to Thailand. However the suspense remains on the question whether Ertiga automatic will be exported from India or Indonesia.
Ertiga Suzuki GA MT is available for sale at 554,000 Thai baths (INR 10.33 lakh) and Mid level auto box variant is up for grabs at 639,000 baht (INR 11.91 lakh). High end version GX is priced at 689,000 baht (INR 12.83 lakh).
